A translator must be able to write well in their native
But is a good, even excellent, writer necessarily a good copywriter?
I decided to find out for myself with a copywriting course from the College of Media and Publishing... and discovered there is much more to copywriting than writing well: copy must be targeted, well-defined, fit for purpose and engaging.
Did I make the grade? Here's what my tutor Cleland Thom, Consultant and trainer in media and internet law, and journalism, had to say:
"I wholeheartedly recommend Alison for copywriting work. She has strong writing skills, can communicate appropriately with different audiences and understands how to get key messages across simply. Her copy is bright and interesting - she achieved a distinction in our copywriting diploma. She is diligent, professional and reliable - great to work with."
The internet has radically changed the way we do business. A website and social media presence are no longer simply nice to have but are highly-effective marketing tools. If you sell to English-speaking counties, an English website and social media posts could make the difference between good sales and great sales.
